Rocio Alejandra Avila, Esq. Workers' Rights Co-Coordinator
Rocío joined La Raza after completing a fellowship with the Women's Employment Rights Clinic in San Francisco, where she represented low-wage immigrant women in employment discrimination and wage and hour claims. While in law school, Rocío clerked at Equal Rights Advocates and the National Immigration Law Center. Prior to law school, Rocío worked as a union organizer and a community organizer at Northern California Coalition for Immigrant Rights and CARECEN in San Francisco, CA.
Rocío has dedicated her life to social and racial justice. Her inspiration and dedication stems from her experiences as the daughter of Mexican immigrants and to her community.
Rocío received her B.A. in Sociology and Politics, with honors, from the University of California at Santa Cruz and Juris Doctor from Golden Gate University School of law. Rocío, however, is proudest of the fact that she was born and raised in Mission District of San Francisco, California.
