Unveiling of Mural:
Thanks everyone who contributed to the making of the mural at 110th Street . Though a rough long process, the product was an collective interaction and collaboration among community members, and exactly what was envisioned: A beautiful mural in the community of East Harlem that stands as a symbol of unity, resistance, struggle and hope. The mural is located at 110th Street, corner of 3rd Ave. Check it out.
Special thanks:
To all Art for Change volunteers, specifically Claudia Plaza and Leticia Perelstein who guided the process and slammed us with a nice unveiling on Saturday, July 19th. In all, about 30 people showed up, there were flowers, drinks, pictures of the artists literary flying everywhere..
To Center for Immigrant Families and Esperanza del Barrio for their committed support from beginning to end.
To Denisse Andrade, whose vision and guidance made this a reality.
To Maria Dominguez, who designed and helped conceptualize the mural.
To the Young Fish Market, not just for providing the wall for the mural, but for their support in many other ways, including patience!
And, last but not least, to the community of East Harlem for their creativity and hard work. Enjoy it and take care of it. This is yours!

****News about our recent past
The Carlitos Hearts Art for Change fundraiser on behalf of Art for change
took place at the Julia De Burgos Cultural Center on Thursday, May 22nd.
The event was an undeniable, resounding success in the true spirit of Art
for Change! Several bands made an appearance and many an attendees spent
the night dancing away. The vibe of excitement was tangibly felt by all
who were present that night.

Thanks to all who came for May 17 & 18 Hacia Afuera Public Arts Festival,
which allowed us to spread our wings and connect to our community. From
working with other organizations, to interacting with members of our local gardens, small business owners, neighbors and children, Hacia Afuera is an
exciting project. At the festival, Youth Theater y Algo Mas debuted
"borders/fronteras" , a short piece that is an initial exploration of how
a group of people are affected by workplace immigration raids. Families,
friends, musicians, neighbors all came out to watch the show, and, in
their responses (crying, laughing, jumping up ready to defend characters.)

Special Note: Thanks a whole bunch to all our new and old volunteers for
making month not only an over-active month, but also an over-amazing one.
Thank you Cassie for your incredible support in making Hacia Afuera a
great success. So happy to have everyone in the Art for Change community!
